UM Labs technology and services provide the 21st century security solutions to solve security and inter-operability problems with VOIP/Video/UC/BYOD.

UM-LABS, a leader in Security and inter-operability Solutions for Unified Communications (UC) applications, today announced that SURETEC SYSTEMS Limited has been selected as their distributor in the Scottish market. “The company plans to offer a new and higher level of protection for major corporate users now adopting UC at an ever increasing rate”, said Peter Cox- CEO UM Labs.

SURETEC SYSTEMS, based in Aberdeen are already working with major corporate clients and have a number of key projects, which will prove benefits to CIO’s of making a low risk financial decision to cover a high risk problem in fraud, eavesdropping, disruption attacks and new criminal intrusions into their UC environments are now viewedmore closely by the insurance industry. SURETEC SYSTEMS already have a long experience of delivering ‘Internet Telephony Services’ under the ‘SureVoIP‘ brand “said Gavin Henry, SURETEC SYSTEMS – Managing Director.”

SURETEC SYSTEMS relies on UM Lab’s software to protect Microsoft Lync installations, and is established as a major vendor of Unified Communication products in Scotland. The UM Labs product also enables SURETEC SYSTEMS to set up a SIP Trunk Service designed specifically for Lync users.

This new 21st century security technology provides an interactive offering either set up as a Platform as a Service (PaaS) or placed in the corporate private cloud. The speed of implementation and inter-operation with legacy solutions from the likes of industry majors such as Cisco, Avaya, and Shortel, enhances the corporate experience through improved protection and speed of implementation- said Gavin Henry, SURETEC SYSTEMS – Managing Director.

About UM-LABS

UM Labs is a pioneer and leader in Voice over IP/SIP Video/BYOD and Unified Communications security. The company markets a family of cost effective SIP Security Controllers which make connecting VoIP/Video systems to the public internet easy and secure. As a software generated solution this can be implemented on any Intel or Arm technology either as appliance or PaaS white label service.

Confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of voice communications over the internet (VoIP/Video) are critical considerations for most businesses. Driven by lower bandwidth costs and the promise of increased flexibility, VoIP is quickly becoming a critical tool in the business-to-business landscape. Significant growth in SIP Trunking and consolidation of voice and data traffic over the public internet are raising new security and interoperability concerns that were previously overlooked. To solve these problems, UM Labs has developed a family of cost effective SIP Security Controllers which can be easily delivered as a service via the PaaS Toolkit or plugged into existing networks to enable SIP connectivity, security and voice encryption. Adopting UM-Labs Innovation in Security allows for true integration across the business with single authentication in protection of Persona and protection of call fraud through encryption of all UC/SIP/VOIP/IM services and this will reduce risk, while enhancing the ROI for the business.

UM-Labs today works through our partners to deliver these innovative solutions and the ‘Innovation in Security Showcase’ becomes their blue print to demonstrate the advancement of these solutions and allows them to fit directly into the Unified Communications value chain.

Hi all,

Hope you’re having a great year too? With 2012 almost coming to an end it’s time to just summarise where we are and what’s been happening in our world of VoIP.

We’ve now doubled our VoIP capacity with BT wholesale again to meet upcoming business in 2013. What else? Here’s a quick list as I know you’re very busy:

We have secured funding from the Scottish Business Gateway for a new business plan and sales and marketing work. This is paving the way for us to develop our own ISP related to VoIP in 2013. It is also helping with a new marketing video, website revamp, better purchase experience so your products are instantly live and a new customer and partner portal (plus other things)

We’ve joined RIPE - those techies of you will know this is the first step to running your own Broadband and other connectivity products

We’ve entered the ITSPA Awards again have high hopes we’ll win it

Our iPhone app is getting shown to us this month which is being developed in partnership with RGU

We’re closed for Christmas (I hope you are too)

We’re launching a brand new conferencing and web meeting product (more this month but it is a real game changer)

We’re moving office so we can accommodate more staff

We’re working hard on the most requested feature which is call packages

The SureVoIP API developer portal will be ready after the new year

SureVoIP partners are using the API in some cool ways

We’ve a couple of press releases out before the year end so keep an eye out. How has your year been?

Thanks,
Gavin.

P.S. Have you seen our SureVoIP 5 star reviews?

Hi All,

Today we’re starting a new series of blog posts covering terms and features of SureVoIP products and services (and VoIP in general), going through the whole alphabet and numbers 0 to 9 (geeky reference to regular expressions in programming).

We may do a few days of the same letter or number if we think there are so many to cover! So, here we go:

Attended Transfer

An attended transfer is when you consult with the person you are transferring the call to before completing the transfer. This allows you to inform the person of who the caller is, and determine if they can take the call.

To transfer a call that is currently active, press the transfer button on your phone, then dial the extension you are transferring to. The target extension will ring. Once the target extension picks up, you can consult whether the target extension wishes to take the caller.

To complete the transfer, press transfer again.

If the person at the target extension does not with to take the call, press the cancel button. The original caller may still be on hold, to retrieve the call, press resume (Some phones may need you to press the Line 1 button).

On phones that do not have a transfer button simply dial *1 instead.

Some phones may say Xfer or TRAN instead of Transfer or have an icon showing a phone with the receiver lifted and an arrow pointing away. Refer to your phone manual if you are unsure.

You can also find this on our Hosted VoIP Reference Guide.

Thanks,

Did you know we have at least 6 companies doing really clever things right now using the SureVoIP Cloud VoIP API?

Uses include:

Telephone call generation for click to call via a customers website

We send out VoIP handset status events (actually SIP Presence events from our hosted VoIP platform exposed via JSON) which one company uses to update a webpage to show call centre agents availability

CRM integration for call popups and call records using a well known CRM platform. This uses our core push events called WebHooks which sends call progress status when someone calls a SureVoIP inbound number (ringing, answered, onhold, hangup)

Customer portal and .NET wrapper (which will be made open source on our github repo)

SMS notifications in a well known hotel chain

SMS alerts to contact the on call I.T. support via an internal portal

All cool stuff and exactly the kind of thing we like to see! Once we have released the new SureVoIP Developer portal you can see all these (once we get permission) with code examples, in the App gallery.

So why are they using SureVoIP? We have an amazing developer API that is fast, connected directly into the core UK telephone network (unlike other non-communication providers that just bolt one on to an existing provider) and access to it comes with every SureVoIP Product and Service.

We are working hard adding and completing more features, exposing more of our hosted VoIP features and improving the API documentation, as well as working with a local University to develop our first mobile App (Apple iOS6 then Android).

Thanks.
